Kenya
Safari heartland
Overview
Kenya is the classic safari destination: the Masai Mara's big cats, the wildebeest migration, flamingo-lined Rift Valley lakes and a string of Indian Ocean beaches from Diani to Watamu. Nairobi adds a genuinely cosmopolitan city break, and excellent flight connections make Kenya an easy add-on to any East African itinerary.
Ugandan and other EAC citizens enter visa-free with a passport or ID. Most other nationalities need a Kenya eTA (electronic travel authorisation), applied for online at least three days before travel.
July–October for the great migration in the Masai Mara; January–February for hot, dry beach weather on the coast.
Kenyan Shilling (KES)
